The Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Syiah Kuala (FKG USK), held the grand finale of the 2026 Young Dental Entrepreneur Innovation and Creativity Awards (Pekan Karya dan Inovasi Dentopreneur Muda Award), known as PRISMADENT, on Sunday, October 18, at Building B of FKG USK. Under the theme “Innovating Smiles, Empowering Society: Dentopreneur Muda Unggul, Inovatif, Berdampak ASEAN,” the event celebrated student creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship in dentistry, with a focus on developing solutions that address community needs.

PRISMADENT 2026 was initiated by the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Partnerships of FKG USK, drh. Abdillah Imron Nasution, M.Si., Ph.D. As its inaugural edition, the program was established to provide a platform for students to develop their potential and receive recognition for their achievements in entrepreneurship and innovation at the university, national, and international levels. The event also formed part of the celebration of the 65th anniversary of Universitas Syiah Kuala.

In her remarks, the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of FKG USK, Dr. drg. Dewi Saputri, Sp.Perio., emphasized the importance of PRISMADENT in encouraging students to broaden their perspectives, strengthen their creativity, and develop innovative ideas, particularly in dentistry. She also expressed her appreciation to the organizing committee and all participants for their dedication and contributions to the event. Through this initiative, students are expected not only to excel academically but also to produce innovative work that offers practical benefits to society.

The PRISMADENT 2026 program was conducted in two stages. The first stage took place on Sunday, October 11, through sessions covering idea development, innovation, legal aspects, copyright, and patent protection. The sessions featured Dr. drg. Diana Setya Ningsih, M.Si., Ph.D., who provided participants with insights into developing innovative work while understanding the importance of intellectual property protection. This preparation aimed to equip students with the knowledge needed to develop their ideas creatively and sustainably. The program culminated on Sunday, October 18, with an award ceremony and an exhibition of student innovations.

In its inaugural year, PRISMADENT attracted 16 teams comprising 48 students from different academic cohorts. The participants competed in three categories: PIKU Assist, with six teams; Dentopreneur Muda, with four teams; and Dentoinvent, with six teams. These categories showcased the diverse potential of FKG USK students, ranging from product development and entrepreneurship to the creation of innovative works designed to address oral health challenges and community needs.

The judging panel consisted of the Dean of FKG USK, Dr. drg. Zulfan Alibasyah, Sp.Perio.; the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Partnerships of FKG USK; and the Coordinator of the Undergraduate Dentistry Study Program, drg. Ridha Andayani, M.Si. The evaluation process considered the participants’ ideas, creativity, and potential for further development, providing recognition for their efforts in producing innovative work.

During the grand finale, awards were presented to outstanding participants in each category. In the PIKU Assist category, JAMCHA TEAM received the Dentopreneur Award, while POMECHITO-ALGI TEAM received the Business Potential Award. In the Dentoinvent category, RUGAEVA won the Dentoinventor Award, while VANDZYY received the Dentoinnovation Award. Meanwhile, in the Dentopreneur Muda category, DENTERA received the Sociocreative Award, while PAZY Co, SIGIGI, and THE PATHWAYS received the Socioimpact Award.

A total prize pool of IDR 6.9 million was awarded as recognition of the students’ achievements and innovation potential. Beyond honoring the award recipients, FKG USK also acknowledged the other participating teams as a way of encouraging creativity, appreciating the courage to compete, and supporting students’ continued efforts to develop innovative ideas.

The Chair of the PRISMADENT 2026 Organizing Committee, Humayra Labiba Khairon, expressed her hope that the program would mark an important first step toward establishing an environment that supports student innovation. She explained that innovation does not always begin in clinical practice; it can also emerge from simple ideas, educational models, applications, or products developed in response to problems encountered in everyday life.

She further emphasized that the success of PRISMADENT should not be measured solely by the awards received, but also by the participants’ willingness to take the initiative, the learning experiences they gain, and their opportunities to develop their work into solutions with broader benefits. Through this program, students are encouraged to move beyond generating ideas and pursue the practical implementation of their innovations to address real community needs.

The grand finale was also enlivened by live music performances from FKG USK students from the 2024, 2025, and 2026 cohorts. These performances added to the event’s atmosphere while providing a platform for students to showcase their talents and creativity beyond academic activities. The innovation exhibition further allowed participants to present their ideas, products, and projects, creating opportunities to exchange knowledge, broaden perspectives, and explore potential collaborations among students.

The successful implementation of PRISMADENT 2026 was supported by an organizing committee comprising students from the 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026 cohorts. This cross-cohort collaboration reflected a shared commitment to fostering an academic environment that encourages creativity, productivity, and the development of student potential.

Through PRISMADENT 2026, FKG USK hopes to inspire more students to transform their ideas into innovative work, understand the importance of intellectual property protection, and develop sustainable solutions. The program is expected to become a continuing platform for student development, nurturing a generation of young dental entrepreneurs who are competent, innovative, and capable of creating a positive impact at the local, national, and ASEAN levels.

PRISMADENT 2026 reinforces the belief that every innovation has the potential to grow and that ideas developed with a clear purpose can contribute to meaningful change. By encouraging students to combine dental knowledge, creativity, and entrepreneurial thinking, FKG USK continues to support the development of innovations that benefit society and contribute to healthier communities.
