Working Meeting of the USK Faculty of Dentistry and Strengthening Innovation and IKU of the Faculty of Dentistry, Syiah Kuala University Towards International Accreditation

The Faculty of Dentistry, Syiah Kuala University held the 2023 Working Meeting on Saturday and Sunday (August 6-7th 2023) at the Anoi Itam Resort in Sabang City.

This year’s Work Meeting focused on the theme “Strengthening Innovation and IKU at the Faculty of Dentistry, Syiah Kuala University, Toward International Accreditation.”

The event, attended by all deans, department heads, SP4, the Faculty Senate, and the FKG education administration, was officially opened by the Dean of FKG USK, Dr.drg.Cut Soraya, M.Pd, Sp.KG.

In her opening remarks, the Dean stated that this Work Meeting should align as much as possible with the Ministry of Education’s programs, as directed by the university leadership, particularly regarding various performance indicators that must be achieved in conjunction with available funds.

He further said that the goals to be achieved are organizational effectiveness, governance, and cooperation development. We hope that our faculty will play a role in improving cooperation with various parties and enhancing coordination and synergy on the indicators that are already good from 2024 to 2026. Moreover, FKG USK is determined to achieve international accreditation.

The Dean of FKG USK for two terms emphasized that international accreditation can only be achieved with the integrity of all elements of FKG USK, from officials, lecturers, teaching staff, to other supporting staff.

We ask the Vice Dean of FKG USK and the entire family to work together and unite to improve quality towards international accreditation in 2026, said the dean.

Meanwhile, in the working meeting which was divided into 3 commissions, in his presentation, Commission C, chaired by drg. Rafinus Arifin, Sp.Ort, said that it would strengthen the faculty’s business base by providing basic laboratories, increasing the involvement of human resources in various scientific events, and reminding several things related to the manifestation or derivatives of facilities and infrastructure programs that should be realized.

Commission B highlighted the sustainability of the national-level outstanding student program and targeted MoUs with various QS100 World Ranking universities such as NUS, University of Sydney, Hong Kong University, etc. This commission also requires several MoUs and social service programs with regional general hospitals and assisted villages to support the faculty’s IKU achievements in realizing international accreditation,” explained Commission B chairperson Dr. A.I Nasution PhD.

Commission A, chaired by Dr. drg. Suzanna Sungkar, Sp.KGA, stated in its presentation that several educational support systems, such as the final project system, professional system, and training for lecturers, are in place.

This meeting also featured a speaker from the PDGI branch in Sabang City, who discussed the challenges and obstacles faced by dentists in Sabang City.
