The Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) of Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK) has officially completed its leadership structure for the 2026–2031 term. This milestone marks an important step in strengthening the Faculty’s strategic direction, with a focus on enhancing educational quality, institutional governance, research excellence, and expanding collaborative networks across the ASEAN region and beyond.
The new leadership team was inaugurated through the appointment of three Vice Deans by the Rector of Universitas Syiah Kuala on Thursday, 6 August 2026. The appointments form part of the Faculty’s organizational consolidation following the election of Dr. drg. Zulfan M. Alibasyah, Sp.Perio as Dean of FKG USK for the next five years.
The newly appointed Vice Deans are Dr. drg. Dewi Saputri, Sp.Perio as Vice Dean for Academic Affairs; Ir. Subhaini, S.Si., M.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D. as Vice Dean for Human Resources and Finance; and drh. Abdillah Imron Nasution, M.Si., Ph.D. as Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Partnerships.
In his address, the Rector of Universitas Syiah Kuala emphasized that the rapidly evolving landscape of higher education requires every faculty leader to work with clear and measurable performance targets. Therefore, achieving the University’s Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) must become the primary focus of every strategic program, encompassing the enhancement of educational quality, research development, student services, and transparent, accountable management of institutional resources and finances.
The Rector also highlighted that the quality of a faculty is measured not only by its academic achievements but also by its ability to establish professional governance, respond effectively to students’ needs, and generate innovations that create meaningful benefits for society.
For FKG USK, the inauguration represents the beginning of a unified leadership committed to advancing the Faculty’s new vision. Dean of FKG USK, Dr. drg. Zulfan M. Alibasyah, Sp.Perio, stated that strong collaboration among the leadership team is essential to ensuring that the Faculty’s strategic initiatives are implemented effectively and efficiently.
“Through strong collaboration across all areas, we aspire to bring about meaningful transformation so that FKG USK continues to grow as a leading and innovative institution in dental education that creates a positive impact on society, both nationally and throughout the ASEAN region,” he said.
According to Dr. Zulfan, each Vice Dean will assume strategic responsibilities within their respective portfolios. Academic Affairs will focus on strengthening educational quality and enhancing graduate competencies; Human Resources and Finance will prioritize the professional development of academic and administrative staff while ensuring sound financial governance; and Student Affairs, Alumni, and Partnerships will promote student achievement, strengthen alumni engagement, and expand collaborations with a wide range of institutions.
The vision of becoming an “Excellent, Innovative Dentopreneur with ASEAN Impact” serves as the foundation of FKG USK’s new leadership. Through this vision, the Faculty is committed to producing graduates who possess not only strong clinical and academic competencies but also the capacity to innovate, embrace entrepreneurship, and contribute to the advancement of dental science and community oral health services.
In line with this vision, the new leadership has outlined several priority initiatives for the beginning of its term, including accelerating the achievement of Key Performance Indicators, improving academic services, strengthening institutional governance, optimizing the utilization of human and financial resources, and expanding partnerships with universities, hospitals, research institutions, industry partners, and international collaborators.
With its leadership team now fully established, FKG USK is confident in accelerating its institutional transformation and reinforcing its position as one of Indonesia’s competitive dental education institutions. The Faculty believes that strong synergy among its leaders, academic community, alumni, and strategic partners will provide a solid foundation for building an adaptive, quality-oriented institution capable of competing at both the regional and global levels.
