Students from the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Syiah Kuala (FKG USK), have once again achieved national recognition. The FKG USK delegation secured Third Place in the Dental Quiz category at the 17th Dental Scientific Competition (DSC) 2026, organized by the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Brawijaya.
The achievement was earned by the Dental Quiz team consisting of Reas Saputra Riyan Tan and Muzammil. After successfully advancing through several highly competitive rounds, the team secured Third Place with a total score of 1,425 points. This accomplishment reflects their strong academic knowledge, clinical reasoning skills, and effective teamwork in competing against delegates from dental schools across Indonesia.
In addition to the Dental Quiz competition, FKG USK also achieved recognition in the Dental Debate category. The debate team, consisting of Diva Maulana and Bintang Alqarni, advanced to the final round and received the Honorable Mention Award, finishing in fourth place. Although they narrowly missed the podium, their achievement demonstrated exceptional critical thinking, scientific argumentation, and communication skills at the national level.
The Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Syiah Kuala, Dr. drg. Zulfan M. Alibasyah, Sp.Perio, expressed his sincere appreciation for the students’ accomplishments. According to him, these achievements are the result of hard work, discipline, dedication, and a strong commitment to continuous learning.

These accomplishments are the result of hard work, discipline, enthusiasm for learning, and unwavering dedication in preparing for the competition. They demonstrate that FKG USK students possess the competence and competitiveness needed to compete with the best universities in Indonesia. We hope this success will inspire all students to continue striving for excellence, fostering innovation, and bringing honor to FKG USK through both academic and non-academic achievements,” said the Dean of FKG USK.
The Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Partnerships of the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Syiah Kuala, drg. Sri Rezeki, Sp.PM., also extended her appreciation to all members of the delegation for their dedication in representing the faculty.
“We greatly appreciate the commitment and dedication shown by all of our students who participated in this competition. Not only did the Dental Quiz team achieve Third Place, but the Dental Debate team also earned an Honorable Mention after competing in a highly challenging and competitive environment. Every competition provides valuable learning experiences that help shape students into outstanding individuals with strong character who are prepared to compete at both the national and international levels,” she stated.
The participation of the FKG USK delegation in these two competition categories reflects the students’ commitment to continuously developing their academic competencies while bringing pride to their faculty at the national level. This achievement is expected to motivate all FKG USK students to further enhance their capabilities, foster innovation, and actively participate in various scientific competitions.
