In preparation for the implementation of AKSI KANINUS 16 2026 in Montasik District, Aceh Besar, the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Syiah Kuala (FKG USK), continues to strengthen various aspects of service preparation to ensure the implementation of the program meets appropriate standards of patient safety and service quality.
As part of these preparations, FKG USK conducted a Sterilization Practice Workshop involving lecturers, laboratory staff from the Dental Hospital (RSGM) and FKG USK, professional dental students, and preclinical students. The workshop was held at the Basic Clinical Skills Laboratory of FKG USK and aimed to establish a common understanding and strengthen the competencies of personnel who will be responsible for instrument sterilization during AKSI KANINUS 16.
The workshop was officially opened by the Dean of FKG USK, Dr. drg. Zulfan M. Alibasyah, Sp.Perio. In his remarks, he emphasized the importance of maintaining continuity and consistency in the collaboration that has been established since 2025.
“The collaboration that began in 2025 and continues to this day has provided valuable experience for all parties involved. We hope that the materials presented will provide practical knowledge that can be directly applied in carrying out our responsibilities, starting today. What we learn must be implemented as consistent work practices, properly documented, and continuously evaluated.”
The statement underscored that the workshop was not merely intended to provide theoretical knowledge, but also to establish consistent, documented, and continuously evaluated work practices that support patient safety.
The workshop featured a session on Theories and Principles of Sterilization in Dental Practice, delivered by the Aceh Regional Board of PPSSI (Perkumpulan Pusat Sterilisasi Indonesia). The session was presented by the Chairperson of DPD PPSSI Aceh, Ners. Evan Tri Saputra, S.Kep.
In addition to the theoretical session, participants took part in hands-on activities covering the proper cleaning and packaging of dental instruments, as well as the appropriate sterilization procedures. The integration of theoretical and practical sessions enabled participants to gain direct experience in understanding and implementing each stage of the sterilization process in accordance with applicable standards.
Ners. Evan Tri Saputra, S.Kep. emphasized that proper sterilization of dental instruments is an essential component of patient and healthcare worker safety.
“The sterilization of dental instruments in accordance with established standards, beginning with proper cleaning and continuing through sterilization using appropriate equipment, is essential to ensuring the safety of patients and healthcare personnel, including dentists and sterilization staff. It also contributes to improving the quality of healthcare services, particularly in preparation for AKSI KANINUS 16, while ensuring a common understanding of sterilization procedures among all personnel involved.”
The workshop is particularly relevant to the preparation for AKSI KANINUS 16, which will be held on September 18–19, 2026, in Montasik District, Aceh Besar. Sterilization is an essential component of the dental healthcare services that will be provided during the program.
Through this workshop, personnel assigned to the sterilization division are expected to develop a consistent understanding and standardized approach to instrument processing. The workshop also serves as a foundation for the development and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Sterilization during AKSI KANINUS 16, ensuring that all instruments used in patient care are processed appropriately, safely, and under proper control.
For professional and preclinical dental students, the workshop also provided valuable practical experience in preparation for their future roles as dental professionals. Knowledge and competence in instrument sterilization constitute an essential component of dental practice and contribute directly to the delivery of safe and high-quality patient care.
The Chairperson of the AKSI KANINUS 16 Committee, Abdi Reda Wira Pratama, emphasized that establishing a common understanding of dental instrument sterilization is an important factor in maintaining the quality and safety of healthcare services. A uniform understanding among personnel is essential to ensuring that each stage of the sterilization process is carried out accurately, consistently, and in accordance with established procedures, including under field conditions.
Ners. Evan Tri Saputra, S.Kep. also expressed his support and appreciation for the preparations undertaken for AKSI KANINUS 16. He noted that the comprehensive preparations demonstrated FKG USK’s commitment to maintaining safety and quality in the provision of healthcare services to the community of Aceh Besar.
The Sterilization Practice Workshop therefore represents an important component of the overall preparation for AKSI KANINUS 16. By strengthening competencies, establishing standardized procedures, and promoting consistent implementation of sterilization protocols, FKG USK seeks to ensure that the healthcare services provided during the program are delivered safely and in accordance with established standards.
