Students from the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Syiah Kuala (FKG USK), have once again brought pride to their faculty by achieving a remarkable accomplishment at the national level. A team consisting of Azalea Najmina Jashmine and Najwa Soleha, both members of the FKG USK Class of 2025, won the Bronze Medal in the Technology Category at the 2026 Jogja Essay Competition (JEC). The competition was organized by Ruang Inovasi Sains dan Karya Ilmiah (RISKI) in collaboration with the Arabic Literature Student Association (IKMASA) at Universitas Gadjah Mada on Saturday, July 25, 2026.
In the competition, the FKG USK team presented an innovative concept entitled SOCARE (Stroke Care), a stroke rehabilitation application designed to integrate digital technology into the recovery process while strengthening the role of caregivers. The proposed application features rehabilitation monitoring, a support community, caregiver burnout detection, and artificial intelligence (AI)-powered assistance. Through these features, SOCARE aims to provide a more effective, accessible, and sustainable solution for stroke rehabilitation.
This achievement reflects the team’s dedication, collaboration, and commitment to producing innovative scientific work that addresses real societal needs. Their outstanding idea enabled them to compete successfully against participants from universities across Indonesia and earn recognition in the Technology Category.
This accomplishment demonstrates that FKG USK students possess not only strong academic competence but also the ability to develop innovative technological solutions to address challenges in the healthcare sector. It is expected to inspire other students to continue creating impactful innovations and actively participate in scientific competitions.
The Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Syiah Kuala, Dr. drg. Zulfan M. Alibasyah, Sp.Perio, expressed his appreciation for the students’ achievement. According to him, this accomplishment reflects the spirit of innovation, creativity, and academic excellence that characterizes FKG USK students in developing meaningful solutions for society.

The Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Partnerships of the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Syiah Kuala, drg. Sri Rezeki, Sp.PM., also expressed her appreciation for the students’ success. She stated that this achievement demonstrates the ability of FKG USK students to maximize their academic potential through innovation and scientific competitions that generate meaningful benefits for society.
“The achievement of Azalea Najmina Jashmine and Najwa Soleha is a source of great pride for FKG USK. We hope their success will encourage other students to continue enhancing their academic capabilities, broadening their perspectives through research, and actively participating in scientific competitions at both the national and international levels. Upon receiving the award, Azalea Najmina Jashmine and Najwa Soleha expressed their sincere gratitude to their academic supervisor, Dr. Viona Diansari, S.Si., M.Si., as well as to their families and everyone who provided encouragement, guidance, and prayers throughout the preparation and competition process. Their unwavering support served as a source of motivation for the team to continue developing ideas that can positively impact society.
It is hoped that this achievement will inspire all FKG USK students to strengthen their commitment to innovation, expand their contributions through research and scientific endeavors, and continue bringing honor to the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Syiah Kuala, at both the national and international levels.
