Friday, October 17, 2025, Darussalam The Faculty of Dentistry, Syiah Kuala University held a socialization on the use of Fire Extinguishers (APAR) in an effort to improve safety and preparedness in dealing with fires. This activity was attended by students, teaching staff, and educational staff of the Faculty of Dentistry, Syiah Kuala University.
The socialization was led directly by an expert instructor from the Banda Aceh City Fire and Rescue Department, Mr. Abdul Mannan, S.Sos. Before practicing how to use the APAR, he first explained that the APAR is a very important tool and every institution must have an APAR so that when a fire occurs, the APAR can be used to extinguish the fire at an early stage. He also explained the types of fire extinguishers and the fire triangle, which is the cause of fires.
During the session, participants were taught how to use a fire extinguisher: pull the safety pin, aim the nozzle at the fire, press the lever to release the extinguishing agent, and move the nozzle from side to side to extinguish the fire. After the participants understood how to use the fire extinguisher, they were given the opportunity to practice using it directly under the supervision of the instructor. The Dean of FKG USK, Prof. Dr. drg. Cut Soraya, M.Pd., Sp.KG, also enthusiastically participated in practicing using the fire extinguisher. Through this awareness campaign, it is hoped that the FKG USK community will be able to use fire extinguishers to prevent fires at an early stage. Additionally, this campaign aims to increase awareness and foster a sense of preparedness in the event of a fire disaster, thereby preventing panic and ensuring safety in handling such emergencies.
