The Department of Oral Biology, Faculty of Dentistry Universitas Syiah Kuala held a Guest Lecture event, which was a collaboration between FKG USK and Harbour Energy. The event was attended by 100 participants from various health faculties at USK, including Faculty of Dentisry,, the Faculty of Medicine, and Faculty of Nursing.
The chairman of organizing committee, Abdillah Imron Nasution, Ph.D., explained that the event consisted of several main segments, namely the opening of the event by the Rector of USK, the signing of a cooperation plan between FKG USK and Harbour Energy, a guest lecture, and a joint iftar.
The dean of Dentisry Faculty, in her speech stated that this activity aimed to broaden students’ knowledge about sustainable development and how industry can play a role in supporting the health sector.
The Rector of Unsyiah, in his speech before opening the event, emphasized that activities such as this should be emulated by other faculties. “This is the first time at USK,” said the Rector in his speech. He appreciated the faculty for its initiative in establishing cross-sector collaboration. Considering that our duty is the three pillars of higher education, namely education, community service, and research.
The main guest lecture session featured a speaker from Harbour Energy, Andri Kristianto, Community Investment Manager, who introduced the upstream oil and gas industry to the participants. Andri also presented the achievements of Harbour Energy. In the material related to health, Andri emphasized a healthy lifestyle in the context of improving human resource performance to achieve sustainability. The discussion session, moderated by drg Citra Feriana Putri, M.Si, also added further understanding of the discussion related to environmental aspects and community empowerment. Participants gained new insights into how the oil and gas sector can contribute to public health and the environment.
This activity is expected to be the first step in broader cooperation between academia and industry, as well as opening opportunities for students to understand the strategic role of the energy sector in supporting sustainable development. The gathering continued with a joint iftar and light discussions on future prospects.
