During this social service activity, FKG USK will provide free dental and oral care and organize a mass toothbrushing event involving hundreds of elementary school students. The 15th AKSI KANINUS  carries the theme “Seunyum Ceudah, Sihat Teujaga, Nangroe Meutuah” (Smile Brightly, Stay Healthy, Prosperous Region). The event involved 29 dentists and dental specialists from FKG USK, 32 members of the Indonesian Dental Association (PDGI) Aceh Besar, 19 alumni and assistants from FKG USK, as well as 67 clinical students and 184 preclinical students.

The opening ceremony was held at Indrapuri Field on September 12, 2025, and was opened by the Governor of Aceh, represented by the Head of the Biro Isra, Dr. Drs. The Head of AKSI KANINUS 15, M. Rayhan Al Faiq, said that on the first day of the event, September 12th 2025, the committee held 11 activities aimed at supporting awareness and community welfare from various aspects, not only from the perspective of dental and oral health.

These activities were designed to reach all groups, from children and teenagers to adults and the elderly. Among the lively events was Dental Health Education–Mass Toothbrushing (DHE-SGM), which involved more than 500 elementary school students around Indrapuri in education and practice on proper toothbrushing. This activity was followed by the provision of supplementary food (PMT) as an effort to meet the nutritional needs of the community.

Not only that, the atmosphere was also enlivened by various educational competitions such as the Ranking 1 Competition and the Coconut Grinding Competition, which not only trained creativity but also introduced cultural values from an early age. It was complemented by Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) counseling to make the community more aware of the importance of maintaining personal and environmental health.

Meanwhile, the general public could also enjoy the Cheap Bazaar, which provided basic necessities at affordable prices, as well as a variety of appetizing snacks at the Culinary Corner. General health aspects are also taken into account through free Medical Check-Ups (MCU) that include blood pressure, uric acid, cholesterol, blood sugar checks, and blood donations.

Interestingly, AKSI KANINUS 15 also conducts Home Visits, which are direct visits to the homes to provide personal dental and oral health counseling and education.  The event lasts until the afternoon.

On the second day, which was the highlight of the Aksi Kaninus 15 event, full attention was directed at providing free dental and oral health services to residents. The event took place from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at MTSN 1 Indrapuri. There were four department for dental and oral treatment this year, namely adult tooth extraction, adult tooth filling, teeth cleaning (scaling), and children’s dental treatment (filling and extraction) with a total of 794 patients. This activity is also a form of collaboration between FKG USK and the Indonesian Central Sterilization Practitioners Association (PPSSI).

“Alhamdulillah, the enthusiasm of the Indrapuri people for this event is very high. Through this activity, we hope to provide the widest possible benefits for the community and the committee,” said M. Rayhan Al Faiq.

Through the implementation of the 15th AKSI KANINUS , the entire academic community of FKG USK hopes that this activity will continue to improve in the future. This includes improvements in service quality, participant numbers, and the geographical reach of beneficiaries.

Kaninus Action has great potential to become a sustainable community service program that can reach more segments of society. With closer collaboration between dentists and dental specialists from FKG USK, alumni, PDGI, and students, as well as support from stakeholders, Aksi Kaninus is expected to continue to develop into a social movement that has a real impact, not only in improving the health of the community, but also in fostering empathy, integrity, and a spirit of service in young dentists. FKG USK believes that significant change always begins with consistent small steps, and the Kaninus Initiative is one tangible step toward realizing that vision: spreading healthy smiles and building harmonious relationships between educational institutions and the community.
