Periodontology

Periodontics is a specialized branch of dentistry focused on maintaining the health of the periodontium, which includes the gums, periodontal ligament, cementum, and alveolar bone. The primary objectives of periodontics are to prevent, diagnose, and treat periodontal diseases, such as gingivitis and periodontitis. Periodontists are adept at both non-surgical and surgical treatments, including scaling and root planing, flap surgery, bone grafting, and dental implant placement. These procedures ensure the stability and health of the tissues that support teeth.

At the Faculty of Dentistry, we are dedicated to providing comprehensive education and hands-on training in periodontics. Our program emphasizes not only the technical skills required to manage and treat periodontal diseases but also the importance of preventive care and the connection between oral health and overall systemic health. This holistic approach prepares future dental professionals to excel in periodontics and contribute to the broader healthcare landscape by promoting overall patient wellness.
